| One hobby we took up while on vacation in Negril on Jamaica was diving/jumping off the cliffs at our hotel, The Rock House Hotel.

is it safe to drive in Jamaica? can I just use my US driver license? do they drive on the right side or left? are the map and road sign clear? |

I don't know if you can use your US driver license, I think you can ask any travel agency to find out. They drive on the left, as it's a former British colony. Maps are clear, and most signs on the main roads are too.
From my experience the only Jamaicans that drive a bit frantic (fast, overtaking at risk) are taxi and people carrier drivers. In general, they keep a slow pace. I would feel safe to drive there again.
Honestly, I've felt more endangered when I lived/drove in the States than on Jamaica :) |

aw yes its safe to drive here in jamaica ,we drive on the left so try nd rent right hand drives cars ,if ur license is international you can use it here if not just contact (orlandocalm@hotmail.com ) nd ill b happy to assist in some ways .blessed ,treast love |

YES IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE (BRAND NEW HWY TAKE YOU AROUND JAMAICA IN NO TIME).YOU CAN USE YOUR LICENSE.DRIVE ON THE LEFT. ROAD SIGN ARE PRESENT (FIRST WORLD STANDARDS). |

Yeah I can already imagine the sunny and chilled atmosphere in Jamaica:) Far more better than in Seattle:)
Did you stay just in Negril? Is it a good place for snorkeling and diving? I am thinking on what exactly to visit so I am kinda confused right now:/ |

It's so chill, you'll give the word a new meaning ;)
I stayed at the Rock House Hotel in Negril the first half of my stay (GREAT snorkeling and diving there, cliff area), then moved to sandy Coral Beach (ironic, I know), which is shallower but awesome 1/4 mile out. I mixed it up.
Besides that I went on half a day trips, going down the river delta from Orange Bay, into the jungle, ending up at some great spots. Guided tours, of course.

You don't have to stay in Negril, and ofcourse you can tour Jamaica safely, preferably by public transportation.You can take one premium jutc executive bus from Negril to Kingston(the capital of Jamaica) where the life style is different mostly partying with the stars like bounty killer.

Well i am a local and i would really recommend going to Negril because you will probably find most of our water spots there and they have some really great beaches,Montego Bay is good if you are a party person looking for good fun and entertainment,Ocho Rios has some great places to go with your family. To answer your question about the driver license i heard you can from a very reliable source lol so i think its probably true and it is safe if u remember that we drive on the left side of the road and people in America drive on the right side but please be on the lookout for our cab drivers they tend to be road hogs but i don't know if that happens in the vacationing part of the island but if they are be driving with them on the road and u will notice them at first sight. |

aw i think what i would reccommend to tourist /visitors to our shores is aw first nd foremose if a male visits they will b sure to have a wale of times as we have the most sexy ladies in the world nd for you females i can tell you this ,as a rastafarian we are just irrisistable men with this passion to us ,our natural dishes nd our music (look @ bob marley )our spiritual nature way of living ,we stick close to the (nature) as it keep is spiritually intact (its nature ) and we r just fun to b around (according to the feed back we recieve from visitors .well lets talk about this beautiful island/country of ours that nature finally gets right ,we have the most beautiful beaches in the world nd other sites ,like blue mountain ,the world most famous blue lagoon plus our party life stylr ,,dressing nd the whole vibes .bless .empress when you get her please find a real natural jamaican rasta man nd thats where your life time of fun and excitement begins (we surpass expectation )orlandocalm@hotmail.com |
